Hans Langenhuijsen Appointed Professor of Adrenal Surgery

ERN eUROGEN warmly congratulates Prof. Hans Langenhuijsen on his appointment as Professor of Adrenal Surgery at Radboud university medical center / Radboud University, effective 1 September 2025.

Hans is the ERN eUROGEN Expertise Area Coordinator for Expertise Area 3.3: Adrenal Tumours and formerly served as Workstream Lead for WS3: rare urogenital tumours. He currently chairs the ERN eUROGEN Guidelines Development Group for a Clinical Practice Guideline on Adrenal Surgery.

At Radboudumc, Professor Langenhuijsen is committed to advancing innovative and personalised adrenal care through strong strategic networks. His research focuses on:

  • Developing new diagnostic methods to detect adrenal tumours.
  • Using fluorescence imaging to enable organ-preserving adrenal surgery.
  • Investigating why adrenal metastases often respond poorly to immunotherapy.
  • Exploring more patient-friendly diagnostic tools, such as PET/CT imaging with Pentixafor in the CASTUS study on primary aldosteronism.

He also plays a leading role in the Dutch Adrenal Network (DAN), collaborates with Bijniervereniging NVACP and BijnierNET, and organises the Radboudumc Adrenal Masterclass.

Hans has been a urologist at Radboudumc since 2008 and earned his PhD in 2012 with a dissertation on prostate cancer treatment. His appointment as professor marks another milestone in a career dedicated to clinical excellence, research, teaching, and European collaboration in the field of rare adrenal conditions.

This achievement reflects both his personal commitment and the collaborative spirit of ERN eUROGEN, where sharing expertise across borders helps improve care for patients with rare and complex urogenital diseases.
