ERN eUROGEN Enlargement – 31 New Applications

In the call opened by the EC in 2019, ERN eUROGEN received a total of 31 new applications to join the network as full members. The ERNs are required by legislation to conduct an internal peer review of each applicant and record their decision in an IT platform which the EC has set up specifically for this task.

The ERN Coordinators Group discussed how this internal process would be carried out during their last meeting in Brussels in November 2019. It was agreed that a consistent approach across the ERNs would be needed and so ERN eUROGEN offered to write a short paper on this for the 24 ERNs. This paper and a short document describing ERN eUROGEN’s approach can be found on the ECP.

The ERN eUROGEN evaluation team is now busy assessing all 31 applications. We are not assessing applicants from our home countries in order to avoid any conflict of interest. Workstream Leaders and a few other network members are also kindly helping in the evaluation process.

Once the final decisions from the evaluation team are available, a list of the applicants and the recommendations (favourable or non-favourable decision) will be circulated to ERN eUROGEN Board Members (i.e., all of our healthcare provider full members) to allow them to ask questions and/or endorse the decisions of the evaluation team.
