ERDERA: First Research Funding Call Now Open!

The European Rare Diseases Research Alliance (ERDERA) Joint Transnational Call (JTC) 2025 is now open!

Through this funding scheme, ERDERA will foster international collaboration by supporting cutting-edge research in rare diseases, bridging the gap between researchers across Europe and beyond, and ensuring that scientific innovation can advance more efficiently and reach those who need it most. The 2025 call is the first of seven joint transnational calls co-funded by the European Commission.

The Joint Transnational Call (JTC) 2025 invites innovative research proposals focusing on “Pre-clinical therapy studies for rare diseases using small molecules and biologicals – development and validation.” Projects should address at least two of the following:

  • Development of novel therapies in a pre-clinical setting.
  • Creation and validation of predictive and pharmacodynamic biomarkers.
  • Replication of pre-clinical findings to enhance reliability.
  • Pre-clinical proof-of-concept studies for therapy readiness.

(Please note that rare cancers are excluded from this call, although rare diseases with a predisposition to cancer are eligible. Certain approaches, including ATMP therapies and clinical trials, are also excluded from this call.)

The pre-proposal submission deadline is 13 February 2025, full proposal invitations will be sent in early May 2025, and funding decisions will be made in December 2025.

The full details about the call, its guidelines, and the submission process are available on the funding page of the ERDERA website.

Upcoming Information Webinar

An information webinar on the call will be held on Tuesday, 17 December 2024, 14:00 – 16:00 CET. The webinar will be recorded, but the video recording will be made available exclusively to registered participants, so please register even if you cannot attend live. REGISTER HERE

This webinar will provide an introduction to ERDERA and the JTC 2025 programme, followed by insights into pre-clinical therapy development, patient engagement in research, the expertise support services offered by ERDERA, and data management practices. Two dedicated Q&A sessions will ensure participants can address their questions and engage actively in the discussions.
